There are two configuration methods, EZ Mode and AP Mode. 


Default configuration method is EZ Mode. If EZ Mode connection fails, please try connecting in AP mode.


Prior to connecting devices, ensure you've downloaded CE Smart, have registered for an account and are signed in. 
Next, ensure your phone being used to connect the Smart devices is connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.  
  • CE Smart Home Devices are not compatible with 5GHz bands. 
 
If you have a dual band router:
  • If you have both a 2.4GHz band and a 5GHz band in one SSID (network name), connect via AP mode or separate the bands for stable connection.
  • If you have both a 2.4GHz band and a 5GHz band with separate SSIDs (network names) and initial connection fails, please ensure you are connected to the 2.4GHz band only. If still having trouble, please attempt connection in AP mode.


EZ Mode Steps:
When connecting in EZ Mode, the LED indicator on the plug should be quickly flashing (2-3x per second). 
  • First, check your phone to make sure that you are connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If you are not sure your router's output signal strength, contact your internet provider to confirm. 
  • The blue LED indicator should be quickly flashing when initializing connection. Follow the below steps to initialize the quick flashing LED: 
- Press the Wi-Fi power button (on right side of plug) once to turn plug on (Red LED).
- Press again to turn off.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi power button for 8-10 seconds, and release once blue LED indicator begins quickly flashing.
- If the Red LED light comes back on steady upon release, press and release the Wi-Fi power button once more to get the blue LED quickly flashing again. 
  • While the blue LED indicator is quickly flashing, open the CE Smart App, tap "+" or "add device", select "outlets/plugs." 
  • Confirm or Enter your 2.4GHz network name and the corresponding password for your 2.4GHz network (case sensitive), tap Next. 
  • Check to ensure the blue LED indicator is still rapidly flashing. Select to confirm this in the app. Tap next. 
  • Configuration will begin. While connecting, it is normal for the blue LED indicator to stop flashing. 
  • When connection is established, the Blue LED on the plug will turn solid; the app will then quickly load to complete connection. 
  • If connection fails, try connecting in AP Mode (steps below). 


AP Mode Steps:
**The blue LED indicator on the plug should be slowly flashing (1x every 2-3 seconds) when initializing connection in AP mode. 


  • You will start with the same steps to get the plug's LED rapidly flashing: Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, and release when the LED begins quickly flashing. 
    • If the Red light comes back on steady, press and release the button once more to get the blue LED quickly flashing again. 
  • Once the LED is rapidly flashing (2-3x per second), press and hold the power button for another 10 seconds and release once you see the blue LED indicator begin slowly flashing  (1x every 3 seconds).
    • If the Red light comes back on steady, press and release the button once more to get the blue LED slowly flashing again.
  • Once the plug's LED indicator is slowly flashing, open the CE Smart App, click the "+" sign in the top right corner to add device, select "outlets/plugs."
  • Confirm or Enter your 2.4GHz network name and the corresponding password for your 2.4GHz network (case sensitive), tap Next.
  • In the top right corner of the next page, click on 'EZ Mode' then select 'AP Mode'. Check to ensure the blue LED indicator is still slowly flashing and tap to confirm in the app. Tap Next. 
  • The next page will be a message about connecting to the device hotspot, click 'connect now'. You will be brought to your settings, open Wi-Fi Networks and search for "SmartLife-xxxx" or "CE Smart-xxxx" and select. 
  • Once connected to the SmartLife-xxxx or CE Smart-xxxx WiFi, wait 5-10 seconds in the Wi-Fi settings page (please note: if it says "no internet connection", this is normal). Then, go back to the CE Smart App and connection should begin. 
    • If connection does not automatically begin, click the small text at the bottom of the page stating "confirm hotspot connection, next".
  • While connecting, it is normal for the blue LED indicator to stop flashing. 
  • When a connection is established, the LED on the plug will turn solid; the app will then quickly load to complete connection.
