To control the dimmer switch manually (outside of the CE Smart App): 

To manually turn on or off the Smart Dimmer: 

• Quick-press the up or down paddle

To manually control the dimming: 

• Press and hold the down-paddle to dim the lighting
• Press and hold the up-paddle to increase brightness 

When the dimmer switch is powered on (manually or via the app), the switch automatically turns on at the brightness level it was last set to.
